Nearly 2 million people visit the aquarium each year, including tens of thousands of students and teachers who access Monterey Bay Aquarium for free. Considered one of the best aquariums in the world, it is known for its extensive education programs, winning four awards from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for its programs in the categories of education and diversity.
