About the Author

Tonya Abari is the author of many books for children, including Locs, Not Dreads; Let’s Celebrate Juneteenth; and The Six Triple Eight: A True Story of the Black Woman Battalion of World War II. Her writing has also appeared in Essence, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Good Housekeeping, AARP, Parents, ZORA, PBS Kids for Parents, and more.
