A picture book celebration of finding your voice and telling your own story, inspired by Toni Morrison.

Guided by the wisdom of her auntie and the brilliance of those who came before her, a young girl discovers her family’s stories living on in song, in stitches, in dance—and now, in her own words. Award-winning author-illustrator Veronica Miller Jamison celebrates Black creativity and legacy in this hopeful story inspired by renowned American novelist Toni Morrison’s call for us to create the stories we want to see in the world.

Genre:

  • Children's Books
  • Juvenile Fiction
  • African American & Black

Veronica Miller Jamison is the illustrator of several acclaimed books including Up Periscope!: How Engineer Raye Montague Revolutionized Shipbuilding by Jennifer Swanson, A Computer Called Katherine: How Katherine Johnson Helped Put America on the Moon by Suzanne Slade, and This Is a School by John Schu.
